Steam VR Allows You to Access Windows Desktop
VR is probably the hottest topic over the internet right now, well, that and AMD’s Polaris and Nvidia’s Pascal architecture. Anyways, VR is rising and in the coming months we will see a range of different VR devices released in the market, including Sony’s PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC VIVE and more.
There are also reports of Apple working on a device.
On the other hand, Valve, known for its massive Steam platform, has turned Steam into a household name for gamers. They also expanded to SteamOS, Steam Controller and Steam Machines.
Now Valve is on the verge of releasing SteamVR and according to the latest news surrounding SteamVR, it is going to let players view their Windows Desktop in VR.
It sounds really cool but due to some limitations, it looks like a less immersive experience than it should be. Steam VR doesn’t support swipe controls nor can you interact with it in anyway. However, what you can do is use a Steam controller to navigate through it.
VR Facebook with Oculus Rift is also in the works and it is really exciting to see all of these unique applications of VR technology. VR will also have a major role to play in the videogames industry. It has quickly become a key player who’s backed by industry giants like Facebook, Sony, Valve, HTC, Samsung and more.
