Nvidia HairWorks Source Code is Up on GitHub Now
A couple of days ago at the Game Developers Conference 2016, Nvidia had announced that they were adding the source code for Volumetric Lighting as well as FaceWorks to GitHub. However, it does not end there, the company is bringing more of its products to the developers, starting with the Nvidia HairWorks source code.
Starting today, the Nvidia HairWorks source code is available for any and everyone through GitHub as announced by Nvidia itself.
The company boasts to have started releasing the source codes of their libraries back in 2015 and promises to continue doing so:
In 2015 we started releasing source code for GameWorks libraries on GitHUB. We continued that at GDC 2016. Our intention is to advance graphics and simulation in gaming and be helpful to those that create games. As promised at GDC, this morning source code for HairWorks was made available on GitHUB.
Just so that you know, the Nvidia HairWorks source code being added to GitHub means that the technology used by CD Projekt Red in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is now available for you to use for free.
After this, there are a total of six of their GameWorks libraries are available on GitHub namely PhysX, PhysX Clothing, PhysX Destruction, Volumetric lighting, FaceWorks demo, and HairWorks.
In the future, Nvidia also plans to add WaveWorks and more importantly the HBAO+ technology to the Git repository hosting service although we are not sure when they will be doing so.
