AMD Polaris Manages HITMAN 2016 at 1440p/60FPS; Warhammer to Utilize DirectX 12
During the Capsaicin event, AMD showcased the new AMD Polaris architecture running the recently released HITMAN at 1440p and solid 60 frames per second; courtesy of DirectX 12.
Aside from AMD Polaris and HITMAN, it was also announced that the upcoming Total War: Warhammer will also support DirectX 12. The demo that was presented during the event shown 10,000 units on screen at the same time.
However, achieving a perfect blend of eye-candy and performance requires some investment. It is said that players will need AMD Fury X in order to achieve rock-solid 60+ frames per second with everything set to ‘Ultra Present’.
While it is a bit early to say anything, but I am sure that the game will benefit greatly from DirectX 12. However, the API being Windows 10 exclusive, there is no telling how many people will make the leap for it!
Coming back to AMD Polaris architecture, the company teased Polaris’ presence earlier this month. AMD Polaris is built using a 14nm FinFET fabrication process, a new memory controller, new multimedia cores, and a new geometry processor.
