Trials on Tatooine, Star Wars VR Game, Leaked; Reveal at GDC Expected
It looks like the first Star Wars VR game might have been leaked online, the project is called Star Wars Trials on Tatooine and is being developed by LucasFilm’s Industrial Light and Magic Experience Lab (ILMxLAB).
Recently, a trailer for the project was published online on YouTube by the ILMVisualFX channel, it was public at first but the settings were soon changed to private suggesting that we really have our hands on something here.
For those of you who do not know, a Star Wars VR game has known to be in the works for a while now, it was going to be released alongside Star Wars The Force Awakens but got delayed with the HTC Vive because it is also a tie-in project with the head-mounted device.
Since the video has been taken to private, we have added some screenshots below for you to check out what the Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine experiment looks like.
That being said, it is expected that we will get the official unveil at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) this year because that is the only major event we will get before HTC Vive officially releases.
As far as the Game Developers Conference (GDC) is concerned, it is scheduled to be held in San Francisco starting today i.e. March 14 and going on until March 18.
The time during which we are speculating the announcement will come is when the Industrial Light and Magic Experience Lab is going to hold a developer session tomorrow, March 15 at 17:30 PT.
The session is titled “Immersive Cinema: Stories from the Experiments Underway at Lucasfilm’s ILMxLAB” and we are sure that the game’s reveal could be on the cards because, after all, they are going to discuss the experiments that are underway.
Do you think the alleged Star Wars VR game could be unveiled tomorrow?
