Android 6.0 Marshmallow Being Rolled Out on Sony Xperia Z5 Globally Now
Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 Edge got Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow back in January for the South Koeran region, and now Sony Xperia Z5 has joined the list for Android 6.0 Marshmallow at least.
What’s even better is that Sony Xperia Z5 is not getting a region based rollout but a global one where numerous countries have gotten the operating system update.
The update build 32.1.A.1.163 has previously been live for the device in Japan and Turkey for the standard version of the phone, the Premium version as well as the Compact version.
There are three models of Sony Xperia Z5 that are currently eligible for the upgrade namely E6653, E6683 and E6633. Out of these, the E6683 and E6633 models are Dual SIM variants while the E6653 is a single SIM mobile.
That being said, currently the update can only be downloaded from the Sony PC Companion app, an over the air update is yet to be released.
After the latest rollout, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is available for Z5 in Thailand, Russia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, United States, India, Malaysia, Japan and Turkey. However, the United States users should keep in mind that the update is carrier specific for now.
This latest rollout to the aforementioned countries means that we will also see another batch in the coming days (or weeks) where the update will be released to a number of other countries.
Adoptable storage and STAMINA mode have been skipped for Z5 while Doze mode, Now on Tap, new camera interface, Xperia Messaging, Direct Share and app permissions have been added.
