EVGA Launches Two Versions of GTX 980 Ti VR Edition for $699.99
The latest addition to EVGA’s graphics card lineup is the GeForce GTX 980 Ti VR Edition, and as the name implies, is aimed at gamers who want a stellar virtual reality experience. The card is available with either a reference Nvidia cooler, or EVGA’s ACX 2.0+ that is designed to provide improved cooling, reduced fan noise, and better overclocking potential.
Both GTX 980 Ti VR Edition cards from EVGA are not overclocked at all; in fact, they share the exact same specifications as Nvidia’s reference design for the GeForce GTX 980 Ti.
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti VR Edition Specs:
- Base Clock: 1000 MHz
- Boost Clock: 1076 MHz
- Texture Fill Rate: 176 GT/s
- Memory: 6144 MB GDDR5
- Memory Clock: 7010MHz
- Memory Bandwidth: 336.5GB/s
- Warranty: 3 Years
The only difference is that these cards come with an additional inward-facing HDMI port that works with the included 5.25-inch drive bay. This bay includes a front facing HDMI 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports, which are used to connect to a VR head-mounted device (HMD).
The internal routing not only makes it easier to connect VR headsets, but also allows for clean and worry free cabling.
As for the pricing, both versions of the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti VR Edition are now available for $699.99, which is a $50 premium on the company’s standard GTX 980 Ti graphics card.
