Overclockers Hit The Fastest Skylake CPU Frequency 7007.85 MHz on Core i7-6700K
A well known overclocker Der8auer and his friend Dancop have both achieved the fastest CPU frequency on a Skylake motherboard. The two German overclockers managed to hit a rather impressive 7007.85MHz on retail Core i7-6700K Skylake CPU using ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Gene motherboard and G.Skill DDR4 memory.
According to the validation submitted to the CPU-Z database, they raised the multiplier up to 69x with a base clock frequency of 101.56MHz. The overclocking was done with only one out of the four cores enabled, with uncore frequency set at 2438MHz.
The rest of the system includes ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Gene LGA1151 motherboard and 8GB (2x4GB) of G.Skill DDR4 memory clocked at DDR4-3148 CL12.
The duo reached around 4.8 GHz on air cooling; later, they were able to put it on cold up to -190°C and achieved 7007.85 MHz, surpassing Chi-Kui Lam’s score of 6998.88 MHz.
However, it’s just a matter of time. Now that Der8auer and Dancop have got their hands on a great retail Core i7-6700K CPU, we’ll see even higher scores in the near future.
With this very achievement, Dancop now claims four World Records (WR) and one Global First Place (GFP) on Maximus VIII Extreme!
