LG Confirms It Will Unveil LG G5 on February 21, Alongside Galaxy S7
We known that Samsung is set to release the new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones in its next Unpacked event on Feb. 21 in Barcelona. But Samsung won’t be the only South Korean tech giant to reveal its flagship duo as LG has also confirmed that it will release its G5 smartphone on the very same day.
The news comes directly from LG USA Mobile, which posted a teaser image on Twitter, writing: “#LGG5, February 21st. #MWC16.”
In addition to that, the company also shared a weird GIF on Facebook, indicating the handset will have a total new design compared to its predecessor.
The most notable feature of LG G5 is that it is expected to come with what’s being branded as the “Magic Slot.” The purported expansion slot will allow user to add extra functionality to the handset by the way of hardware modules which could include cameras, audio amplifier, physical keyboard and others.
Specs-wise, the G5 sports a 5.3-inch Quad-HD display, along with a secondary “ticker” display – first seen on the 5.7-inch V10 – that shows the time, notifications, favorite apps and functions. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, coupled by 3GB of RAM and 32Gb of internal storage.
Further, the G5 is said to have a dual-lens setup on the rear, that gives the main 16MP camera a 135-degree wide-angle capability. If that’s not enough, the rear of the phone is equipped two LED flash bulbs, a laser autofocus module and an RGB sensor.
Driven by a 2,800mAh removable battery, the G5 also features a fingerprint sensor which sits just beneath the camera components.
