AMD Opens Up GPUOpen Website To Promote More Efficient Game Development
AMD has just launched their GPUOpen website, intended to provide information and downloads related to all kinds of graphics developer technologies.
As the official announcement explains, GPUOpen is composed of two areas: Games & CGI for game graphics and content creation, and Professional Compute for high-performance GPU computing in professional applications. It is aimed to empower developers by offering them features that are not exposed today in PC graphics APIs of current and upcoming GCN architectures.
Among various other benefits, “such accesses will also enable easier porting from current-generation consoles (XBox One™ and PlayStation 4) to the PC platform,” reads the blog post.
The key technologies featured in GPUOpen include:
- HIP, a C++ interface that lets you create portable applications to run on any GPU
- AMD LiquidVR for a fully immersive and comfortable virtual reality experience
- Direct3D 11 interface that empowers applications with various GPU features
- AMD TressFX for advanced GPU rendering of hair, fur, and grass
