4.5G LTE Advanced Pro Shown off by Qualcomm
We know that “Release 15” i.e. 5G technology is going to be used in the wireless industry by 2020 and after that. However, Qualcomm has also detailed their 4.5G LTE Advanced Pro technology which they wish to develop between this year and 2020 i.e. before 5G takes over.
In a corporate presentation given by Qualcomm, they have referred to this technology as the intermediate standard until time is ripe for 5G. Until then, the aim for the technology will be to further support backwards compatibility and use more spectrum.
Qualcomm boasts that the 4.5G LTE Advanced Pro technology is going to be super fast, with very low latency rates, and with unlicensed spectrum access.
The technology is going to use Carrier Aggregation like the LTE Advanced technology did before it, which is going to allow fiber-like speeds. native usage of the Carrier Aggregation will also allow up to 32 carriers simultaneously using Licensed Assisted Access.
Qualcomm, in their presentation where they have outlined what the new 4.5G Advanced Pro technology is going to achieve in the five year of its development life (before 5G takes over), have also shared some slides highlighting up to ten bullet points that the development is going to be built upon. The usage of Carrier Aggregation is one of them.
