Intel: Integrated GPUs Can Outperform 80% of Discrete GPUs
According to Intel; PC gamers no longer require a discrete graphics card in order to run games as integrated graphics card have nearly caught up to dGPUs.
Speaking at a J. P. Morgan forum; Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s Desktop Client Platform, Gregory Bryant said that the Intel’s integrated GPUs are getting with each day passing.
Continuing, he also said that high-end graphics processors integrated in Intel chips dubbed Iris and Iris Pro can outperform 80 per cent of discrete GPUs available in the market today. Intel’s GPUs are about 30 times better than what they used to be five years ago, Bryant added!
According to Bryant; despite the fact that Intel’s latest integrated GPUs in Skylake can simultaneously handle three 4K monitors at the same time, the company has done a poor job in spreading out the benefits of using an integrated GPU.
While I have concerns when it comes to using integrated GPUs over discrete graphics cards from NVIDIA or AMD, there is no doubt that these graphics processors integrated in Intel chips will not be enough to handle virtual reality headsets and upcoming games like The Division and more.
