SteelSeries Rival 700 Mouse Revealed with OLED Display, 16K CPI Tracking, Tactile Feedback
With all the new products being revealed, one of the best mouse-making company has also shown off their latest, the SteelSeries Rival 700. Despite being the latest from SteelSeries, there is something else that is keeping the gaming mouse in the talks and that is an OLED screen placed at a rather odd place.
The company says that this screen can be used to “track their stats, change profiles, see their CPI settings as well as set custom logos and animations using SteelSeries Engine,” but actually it is placed exactly where your thumb would be meaning it stays mostly hidden unless you lift up the mouse and check.
It is still a nice addition nonetheless, but even more importantly it comes with Tactile Alerts/ Feedback. Here’s how the SteelSeries Rival 700 uses that:
With tactile alerts, the mouse is no longer merely an input device; gamers can now feel in-game events, aiding them in critical decision-making. The Rival 700 generates tactile alerts that notify the gamer of in-game events without affecting precision or accuracy. Gamers can customize every aspect of the alerts for in-game events such as cooldown timers, health status and more through SteelSeries Engine.
There is another aspect of the mouse that some people might not like, it weighs about 159 grams which a number of gamers would regard as a little heavy than what they would prefer.
A right-handed mouse, it has seven buttons, swappable covers, resolution of up to 16,000 counts per inch (CPI) and a lot more that you can read up here.
Rival 700 will cost $99.99 / €109.99 MSRP when it releases in Spring 2016.
