Ford Sync 3 has Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 4G LTE Now!
Not many of us have been fond of MyFord Touch, and its replacement by Ford Sync 3 was definitely something good for everyone who cares about the in-car infotainment system he/ she has – which would mean virtually everyone. Anyhow, the system just got better thanks to a bunch of new features, the most notable among whom are Android Auto and Apple CarPlay!
Sync has added new functionalities to the in-car system that Ford now uses on almost 15 million of its vehicles. The system that boasted of being a leader in communications and entertainment technology for vehicles now supports 4G LTE too!
Other than that, they have also improved their own AppLink and added new apps including the AAA/CAA app, Concur, Eventseeker, Cityseeker, and Tencent Chelian. These help you keep track of social media, find restaurants or events and even mileage calculations for business trips and so on.
Moving on to the rest of the features. The Apple CarPlay supports iPhone 5 and above and you can use it by “plugging in the iPhone via USB, then the CarPlay interface appears on the touch screen. Apple CarPlay features Siri voice control, and seamlessly integrates an iPhone with the car’s built-in display and controls.”
It helps using features like phone calls, music, messages (send and receive), directions and so on.
Android Auto is a similar feature that helps enhance the FOrd Sync 3 experience by offering “convenient information, including Google Maps, Google Play Music and apps” that are displayed on SYNC screen. These offer “seamless integration of the smartphone into the car” while you can also benefit from the services of Google voice search.
