Samsung Galaxy S7 Rumored To Have Pressure Sensitive Screen For 3D Touch-like Support
While it hasn’t been announced yet but there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, Galaxy S7 is definitely happening and will be available soon if the past trend is to be believed. Usually Samsung launches their new device in the first few months of the year which means Galaxy S7 is less than 6 months away.
According to a new rumor, Samsung is adding a pressure sensitive touch screen to S7 in order to create a functionality that is similar to Apple, Samsung’s biggest rival, and its 3D Touch feature available in iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. 3D Touch allows users to access extra methods of interaction by pressing harder on the display instead of a light tap.
Whether this feature, if true, will be available on both the rumored models of Galaxy S7 or not, is unclear at the moment.
According to Wall Street Journal, S7 will also feature a reversible USB Type-C port as well as the fast/turbo charging option that is becoming common in flagship smartphones these days. The camera will be improved as well, with better low-light performance in a slimmer module, removing the need for a camera hump.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are expected to be unveiled during Mobile World Congress in February while the official launch is probably in mid-March. There are also reports of a Premium edition in the works with 14 core GPU and a 4K display.
