AMD R9 Nano Price Drops Considerably In Time For Holidays
Just a few weeks before holidays (and after Black Friday), AMD has once again reduced the price of one of its recent R9 GPUs. The Radeon R9 Nano, considered somewhat a mini version of R9 Fury X, originally launched with a price tag of $649, approximately €600 but now the price has dropped down considerably to €500.
So far this price drop seems to be only on Sapphire’s model of R9 Nano and not on some of the more commonly used brands Gigabyte. The sale seems to be available at select retailers in Germany, including Caseking and Mindfactory. All the other members of AMD’s R9 GPU family are still pretty much at their original cost.
Whether this price drop is just for the holiday season and it will return to normal after new year remains to be seen but hopefully, and considering that even with its small size, R9 Nano packs quite a punch and can easily rival even Nvidia’s GTX 980, it would make sense for AMD to introduce a permanent price drop and push out more units to improve sales.
R9 Nano however may not be a GPU for everyone since it is designed for Mini-ITX builds, people with smaller casings. The GPU uses AMD’s much awaited High Bandwidth Memory structure and is fully 4K, DirectX 12 and VR ready as well as supporting CrossFire for those who have enough room in their casing for multiple GPUs.
