Xperia Marshmallow Concept Gets The Option To Change Icon Design In New Update
While Android 6.0 may still not be available to general Xperia smartphone users, some of those people have been enjoying the benefits of the new OS for some time now thanks to Xperia Marshmallow Concept. Unlike other smartphone companies, Sony launched this concept program to take valuable feedback from users while developing their own flavor of the OS.
Judging from the reports by Xperia users, this has been a great move on Sony’s part and the development seems to be going well that Sony is almost ready to launch the update for general public use.
However, since the update still isn’t here, the concept is the closest thing to actual OS and it just got updated with a new build a few days ago. Among other changes in the build, perhaps one of the biggest is the updated home launcher (build 10.0.A.0.4) with the option to change icon appearance (not the actual icons themselves).
A new option in the Home settings menu will allow users to use Framed, Glass or a Round icon appearance, a nice additional customization option for those that like to tinker.
Another big change with the new build is the ability to uninstall or disable most of the preinstalled applications. This is mostly aimed at those people who are bothered by all the unnecessary bloatware applications and want their device to present more of a Google Nexus-like experience. Although it isn’t clear whether this option will carry over to the final release build of Android 6.0 for Xperia devices or not, hopefully it does.
