Soak Testing Of Android 6.0 Begins For Moto X Pure Edition
Following up on an announcement he made a few weeks ago about the upcoming Android 6.0 update, David Schuster, Senior Director, SW Product Management, Motorola Mobility, has now announced that Motorola has started soak testing for the Marshmallow update for Moto X Pure Edition smartphone.
Last month, there were some reports that indicated that Moto X Pure Edition has started receiving Marshmallow update however Schuster claimed that it was just a simple test-drive and actual update is still away. Now with the announcement of soak testing having been started, eager Moto X users can rest easy since the update should be available soon.
Soak testing is one of the late stages in development of an update and is basically used to stress test the firmware with typical production load for an extended period of time to extrapolate results. Since the update is now in soak testing phase, the final release should be only a few weeks away.
Moto X Pure Edition is simply a renamed model of Moto X Style, with Style being available internationally while Pure Edition being a US version of the device. Style has however already started receiving Android 6.0 updates in some countries.
Compared to Android 5.1 Lollipop, which is the Android version that the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition currently uses, the 6.0 Marshmallow version of Google’s mobile OS comes with significant improvements such as the new Google Now on Tap, a granular permission model, fingerprint recognition for supporting devices, improved volume controls, as well as a smart battery saving feature called Doze.
