Report: AMD to Release Zen-Based CPUs and APUs in 2016/2017 Respectively
AMD has plans to release Zen FX CPUs sometime during Q-4 of 2016 and APUs in 2017, a recently surfaced report suggests.
According to the report, Zen is too far to get a concrete release date, but the 2016 holiday season might bring Zen-based FX CPUs with APUs arriving sometime in 2017.
With everything said; since AMD has not given out any official release window, I would encourage everyone to take it with a grain of salt as these dates are subject to change to an unknown window.
AMD Zen architecture is going to be built on a 14-nm process with a unified AM-4 socket and support for DDR-4 memory. In addition to this, it will also utilize Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) technology which will allow the CPU to process two threads at the same time. All this will translate into 40 per cent increase in Instruction per Clock throughput.
Lastly, the system will also introduce a new compression standard which will enable 4K or 1080p streaming. Make sure to stay tuned as we will continue to update you with more information!
What do you make of the said tentative release window for Zen FX CPUs and APUs? Let us know in the comments section below!
