Future Windows 10 Updates Can’t Be Downloaded Via MCT Tool
Microsoft just pulled the latest Windows 10 update from the MCT and says that the company wants all future updates to go through Windows Update.
Previously, Microsoft recommended this tool to users who want to download the software without having to wait for it to arrive via Windows Update.
However, things have now changed as MS pulled the latest upgrade from MCT.
The November update was originally available via the MCT tool, but we’ve decided that future installs should be through Windows Update. People can still download Windows 10 using the MCT tool if they wish. The November update will be delivered via Windows Update.
If you try to download via the Media Creation Tool now, it will install the old July 2015 (build 10240). You will then have to update from Windows Update.
It’s a really strange step and it looks like Microsoft didn’t think the MCT part through, before encouraging people to use it. Hopefully, Microsoft will think twice next time before asking millions to download the setup files.
