Android 6.0 Headed To OnePlus Devices Early 2016
While the latest Android firmware, 6.0 Marshmallow, may have been out for more than a month, only a few Android powered devices have the new OS installed on them and most of them are Google’s Nexus devices. Products from other companies are set to launch their flavor of the update next year.
Seems like yet another company has announced that the new firmware will be available to its devices relatively early in 2016. In a recent news update, OnePlus has announced that its smartphones, OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 will be receiving the update in the first quarter of 2016.
OnePlus’ flagship phone, or flagship killer, OnePlus 2 will be receiving Android 6.0 while OnePlus One will be getting its corresponding CyanogenOS based update. OnePlus says that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based CyanogenOS should be considered the official release for OnePlus One, adding that a “community build” of OxygenOS, with Android 6.0 Marshmallow underpinnings, will arrive “when time allows”.
There is no fixed date on the release of the update, or when the other smartphone, OnePlus X will be upgraded to Marshmallow but in the meantime, the company has released a new software update that introduces OxygenOS 2.1.2 to the device. The update features camera software enhancements, performance overhaul and some bug fixes.
