This App Brings Power-saving Doze Mode to Non-Marshmallow Devices
Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with a new battery saving feature, called the Doze mode. The feature is designed to manage background processes more efficiently as it shuts down some tasks and apps when the phone is in sleep with the screen turned off.
Unfortunately, Marshmallow runs on only 0.3 per cent of Android devices so majority of users can’t be benefited out of this. However, there is a third-party app now available on the Play Store that can mimic the mode on devices running Android 4.1 or later .
Named after the mode itself, Doze essentially prevents unauthorized apps from running and connecting to your data network when the display is off, though you still receive the messages, notifications and others that matter to you.
Doze has an active list of features from which you can select the apps you want to function normally even when the battery saving mode is turned on. Additionally, unlike Marshmallow’s built-in Doze mode, the standalone app allows you to enable the feature even while the device is charging.
You need to activate the app and connect it to a proforma VPN to make it work. Doze for Android is available for free on Play Store.
