User Modifies Samsung Galaxy Note 5 With See-Through Casing
The Android-based Samsung Galaxy Note 5 adapts the design of Samsung’s flagship regular S6 and S6 Edge phones with a fixed glass back and non-removable battery. It’s a welcoming feature for most, but those who want something trendy would soon get tired of the golden back design.
One such fellow, a redditor going by the name Skarface08, managed to modify the back sealed cover of his Note 5 to make it see-through.
According to the fellow, he used a heat gun to make the removal of the back easier, a suction cup to pry the Note 5’s rear off, and a razor blade to remove the plastic film on the cover.
Once the removal of the plastic film was done, he had a shiny, clear slab of glass in his hand, which he simply placed back onto his phone. The result is a neat and tidy looking back. What makes it more elegant is that the Samsung and Galaxy S5 logos seemed to be etched onto the glass, and they stayed.
Of course, this isn’t something everyone should try to do. Skarface08 works for American telecommunication company Sprint, and has plenty of experience making such mods, as he’s showcased something similar with a Galaxy S6.
It’s also worth mentioning that such drastic modification will definitely void your warranty with Samsung. Nevertheless, if you own a heat gun and know your way about such things, no one’s going to stop you if you’re feeling adventurous enough.
