Landmark Entertainment Plans To Bring VR Theme Park Experience Inside Homes
There was a time when 4D theme parks were all the rage. Even now they are pretty popular in places like Disney Land or Universal Studios because of the immersion they offer. Although judging by how rapidly the VR technology is progressing, that might not be the case for long.
Landmark Entertainment, the company behind these 4D experiences, is now diving into the VR experience and judging by their history, whatever they launch will be incredible.
What makes Landmark’s promise of VR so unique that dozens of other VR based theme parks such as The Void haven’t already promised? Well, the fact that those ‘parks’ have people travelling to a specific location to experience the real fun while Landmark is looking to bring that experience to everyone’s home with its Virtual World’s Fair so that people can enjoy the theme park experience from the comfort of their living room.
The unique aspect of Landmark’s venture doesn’t just stop there. While the park itself will feature rides, social interaction with other visitors, entertainment, education and even shopping, one of the more important aspects of what Landmark is doing, is creating a portal to its virtual world – the Pavilion of Me.
That place will be like a digital version of the user’s home-base, letting them watch TV, video chat or play games in a comfortable location. When they want a more worldly, exciting place to visit, they can step through a portal and right into the virtual park.
The full theme park experience is set to launch in 2017 while the Pavilion of Me will be available next year.
