Xiaomi Says Mi5 Won’t Be Revealed This October
Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi has confirmed that it will not be releasing the much-rumored Mi5 smartphone this month.
What is to be the firm’s next flagship phone, the Mi5 had been widely anticipated to be announced this October 19, along with possible smartwatches, notebooks, and tablets from the company. However, Xiaomi’s President Lin Bin pretty much confirmed that there won’t be any such news while speaking to China’s Weibo.
Lin Bin also went on to say that users should not be expecting any kind of tablet or notebook announcement on October 19 in an event in China for which Xiaomi had previously teased an announcement of a mobile phone.
The tablet rumors have also been shot down, following whispers of a possible MiPad 2, a device that has been suggested to be in development for a while now.
It’s still unclear what exactly Xiaomi will reveal on October 19, but this play-down from the company’s president suggests that they may just be announcing non-flagship cellphones.
Xiaomi has had a lot of success in its relatively young tenure as a mobile manufacturer, and is known for its phone designs, simplicity, and excellent offerings at good prices. It is possible that the company is holding off an Mi5 announcement till the official Kryo-powered Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processors arrive.
