Pepsi is Collaborating With A Chinese Company to Release a Smartphone, the P1
Apparently, a supposedly ‘unknown brand’ in China has reached an agreement with PepsiCo to release a Pepsi inspired cellphone.
According to a leak spotted by Hot Hardware, the beverage producing company has gassed out an agreement with an unknown vendor to release a phone. Aptly named the Pepsi P1, it boasts a 5.5 inch screen running at 1080p resolution, with Android 5.1 running it.
Although the vendor is officially unknown, the design inspiration, fingerprint ID location, user interface, and model name indicate that it might be Huawei.
Huawei’s iconic Emotional UI (EMUI) seems to be running on the phone, albeit with a Pepsi-inspired theme. There’s not a whole lot of Pepsi on the phone, save for a small logo of the cold-drink at the back.
According to the leak, the Pepsi P1 will cost about $200, which confirms it to be a midrange offering. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come in diet. Or perhaps this is the diet version (given the colors and lightweight specs) and we’d eventually see a diabetes-inducing powerhouse later on? You never know.
It’s an intriguing idea, and I’m personally looking forward to the official reveal of this phone.
