Google Releases Public Transport Mobile App for New Delhi
Google Maps is certainly a viable option when it comes to finding public transport spots and creating routes in busy and complex cities.
Google on the other hand doesn’t exactly feel that it’s sufficient enough, especially when it comes to providing details of public transport and transit methods. For this very reason, Google has released a specific city-dedicated Public Transportation app that gives users the required data for that city offline.
The seemingly first in line is the standalone Delhi Public Transport Offline. The app routes all the public transportation services offered in India’s busy capital New Delhi, and could prove to be very useful for travelers.
This software is currently exclusively available for Android. As the name suggests, it delivers information on routes, timetables, and directions for buses and metro in New Delhi. Yes, it does work in offline mode, and you can save destinations to check back on the information in the future.
It seems odd that Google would release a single app that provides transport solutions to one of several hundreds of busy cities in the world, but it seems that Delhi Public Transport is more or less experimental, possibly paving way for more apps of the same nature.
Of course, this is currently just speculation, but it’s not a far-fetched hypothesis by any means.
