PlayStation VR Will Cost As Much As a PlayStation 4
If you have been keeping up with the latest happenings of the VR gaming scene, then you know that Sony’s Project Morpheus is now known as PlayStation VR.
It will provide gamers with spectacular, memorable VR gaming experience, when it comes out in 2016. Sony is yet to announce a release date or price for it, but we do have an estimated price tag provided by Sony’s Andrew House.
According to House, PlayStation VR will cost approximately $400, meaning it will cost as much as a new console.
VR rewrites the rule book on how you can create games. You’re seeing a large amount of interest and work happening among smaller teams, because it’s possible to create something in VR that is very simple but still very magical.
The experience will surely be magical, but the price may put some people off. However, this price was expected since the beginning, so there is nothing to be surprised about. VR devices cost a leg and arm to manufacture and Sony, Microsoft nor Oculus will sell their devices for less than $400.
You can easily expect other companies to go even higher than $400.
Sony’s PlayStation VR will use PlayStation 4 and its camera for VR. We can only hope that Sony will provide any extra peripherals needed to run PlayStation VR.
Do you think $400 is an acceptable price point for PlayStation VR?
