More than 800 Intel Skylake Based Mobile System Designs Incoming
Intel Skylake is the new CPU family of Intel which they are working to eventually introduce to all the markets and all the products possible.
However, in order to get the attention of the key players in the mobile market they have recently revealed that more than 800 mobile PC models are being developed for the microprocessors.
Kirk Skaugen, who is the senior vice president and general manager of client computing group of Intel, was talking to the global technology conference of Citigroup where he boasted of “unprecedented” system designs based on Intel Skylake.
We have unprecedented [amount of] design [wins with ‘Skylake’], more than 800 system designs are coming to market. It is probably hard to put it into perspective without putting a denominator, but that is absolutely unprecedented. 48 different [mobile] processors are launching across every form-factor you can imagine.
Intel Skylake includes the Core i-series and the Core M-series chips among others that work with a host of products. It has not been long since the CPUs were launched and already there are around 40 mobile PC designs.
With the promised high performance of Intel Skylake processors, we can expect the mobile PCs to get 2.5 times faster performance, 30 times graphics improvements and three times longer battery lives, claims Intel.
