First Core i7-6500U Skylake Benchmarks Aren’t That Impressive
Intel recently rolled out Skylake i7 and i5 for desktop PCs but it is yet to reveal much regarding its notebook counterpart.
However, similar to Skylake for desktop, benchmarks for Skylake platform for notebooks have been leaked online. Benchmarks gave us an idea of how Core i7-6500U Skylake will perform, and frankly, it’s not that impressive.
The 15 W Core i7-6500U is a successor to Core i7-5500U, and sadly, performance benchmarks are not that promising showing very little improvement in performance over its predecessor.
If you look at the Cinebench R11.5 – CPU Multi 64Bit test, i7-6500U does slightly better than i7-5500U.
It is very much possible that BIOS and Turbo Boost tuning might help improve performance. However, even if that is the case, how much difference will that make? 15 W variant has received benchmarks, so I guess information regarding 35 W and 45 W class of processors might soon surface, as well.
However, leaked benchmarks aren’t always correct representations of the final product, so take these with a massive grain of salt.
