Updated: Quantum Break To Run at 1080p on Xbox One, Not at 720p
Update: The earlier version of this story reported that Quantum Break could run at a 720p on Xbox One. However, this may not be the case as a statement from the PDF document reads:
Our final image is 1080p but screen-space lighting is evaluated at 1280×720.
Original Story: About a couple of weeks ago at Siggraph 2015 Presentation, Remedy Entertainment talked about their approach to multiscale global illumination in Quantum Break.
Finally, the slides of their presentation have been uploaded on the Web, which also shed some light on details regarding individual technical aspects of their forthcoming Xbox One exclusive.
If the slides are to be believed, Quantum Break could be running at a 720P frame buffer on Xbox One.
However, it should be noted that some effects such as Screen-Space Reflections and Screen-Space Ambient Occlusion could possibly be running at 720p for the purpose of this presentation.
Further, Remedy still has ample time to increase the resolution and frame rate as Quantum Break is slated to release in April 2016 for Xbox One.
Hopefully, Remedy will soon offer clarification on the matter. We’ll keep you updated and let you know when we hear an official word from developers.
What’s your take on the story? Do you think Quantum Break won’t run at 1080p on Xbox One?
