Cyanogen Claims Having More Users Than Windows Mobile and Blackberry Combined
Cyanogen was made popular by OnePlus One, which itself was a huge success. While Windows Mobile and Blackberry are struggling, Cyanogen has risen out of nowhere to challenge the iOS and Android.
According to company rep Adnan Begovic, Cyanogen has over 50 million users around the world, claiming that they have more users than Windows Mobile and Blackberry combined.
The news was shared at the Seattle Coderush developer event, and it came in as a surprise for many. Back in 2013, Cyanogen revealed that their install base is around 10 million. Such a massive boost in just two years is highly impressive by all means.
Cyanogen started-off as a replacement for rooted devices running Android. Later on, it was used in OnePlus One. The company has now made a deal with small smartphone makers in India, who’ll run the OS on their devices.
In India, it will be used in the Yu Yureka line of devices, which resulted in Oneplus building their own Android-based OS.
Cyanogen is better than Android when it comes to customization options, which is a feature most popular among users and developers.
Still, even though Cyanogen is running on a massive amount of devices, it is nowhere near as popular as Android or iOS; so Apple nor Google have anything to worry about..for now.
