This is the Best Nintendo Smartphone Concept To Date
We’ve a seen a number of Nintendo mobile device concepts over the years, but only a few look as product-ready as this new concept created by German design firm CURVED Labs. Running a custom Android UI on a 4.5-inch display while featuring 64 GB of on-board storage, it’s a more modern take on the Nintendo smartphone concept.
The concept also imagines two traditional Nintendo controllers hidden within the housing, giving the device a distinctive look, though many seasoned gamers won’t prefer a sliding design.
Along with support for wireless charging, the phone boasts an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, coupled by a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
More like a Wii Phone, the Nintendo smartphone features a retro button layout option as well as a slot for the reading of standard Nintendo DS cartridges. To add a cherry to the topping, a tiny Mario key fob is attached to the device.
Considering Nintendo’s move to smartphone gaming, it’s not hard to imagine the company releasing a smartphone although it won’t be happening anytime soon.
That being said, you shouldn’t keep your hopes high on Nintendo making an Android smartphone. Don’t forget the company recently crushed speculative hope that it would use Android in its next console, the Nintendo NX.
Check out CURVED Labs’ video down below, and let us know would you buy such a device if it ever becomes a reality.
