Sony’s PROselfie Xperia C5 Ultra Will Cost $425, Hits the Market on August 14
Earlier this week, Sony announced two interesting smartphones, the Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5, in an attempt to woo selfie-maniacs. At the time, the company said that the C5 Ultra would be available to buy starting this month. Now, the price and launch date of the handset are revealed.
Starting August 14, Sony Hong Kong will sell the Xperia C5 Ultra with a price tag of 3,298 HKD (about $425) for an unlocked, dual SIM unit. The handset is likely to have similar prices in other markets, too.
The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra sports a bezel-less, full-HD 6-inch display with a resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels. Powered by a 1.7 GB octa-core processor, the phone packs 2 GB of RAM, 4G network connectivity, an aluminum frame and a battery that Sony claims can run for two days on a single charge.
Dubbed as “PROselfie,” the phone includes 13-megapixel cameras on both the front and back, which makes it a selfie-taker prior to being a smartphone.
However, unlike most of Sony’s recent devices, the Xperia C5 Ultra is not water-resistant. The phone will be available to purchase in three different colors including black, white and a “glossy soft mint.”
According to Sony, the phone is targeted at select countries across “emerging markets,” so it’s unlikely that it will make its way in the US.
