Nokia N1 Becomes Official in the UK and Mainland Europe
Until now, the Nokia N1 was available only in China and Taiwan since the beginning of 2015. The only way to get your hands on the tablet while you’re in Uk or mainland Europe was to import it from Asia. But the tablet can now be bought in Europe via official channels.
NokiaShop UK is offering the Nokia N1, but you can only register for now. The device will be available for order in the coming days. Once it becomes available and you place the order, the customers in the UK can receive it in 48 hours, or – for an extra £5 – in 24 hours. Orders from mainland Europe are also accepted, but only for an extra £15.
The N1 tablet is priced at £219.00 (about $342). It’s worth mentioning here that NokiaShop is not maintained by Nokia itself, but a third-party firm called Colourful Limited. Still, they promise official support and warranty for the device.
As for the specifications, the Nokia N1 is an iPad-like 6.9 mm thick aluminum-made slate, that sports a 7.9-inch display with 1536 x 2048 pixels. Under the hood, it features a quad-core 2.3 GHz Intel Atom processor, 2 GB of RAM, an 8 MP rear camera, 32 GB of internal memory, reversible USB Type-C connector, and a 5400 mAh battery.
Manufactured by Foxconn, the N1 slate runs Android Lollipop customized with Nokia’s Z launcher. The Z launcher offers several neat features, like you can ‘Scribble’ the first letter of the search on home screen and call up related app, contact or task.
The Z launcher also learns how you use your phone and offers the apps you might need at a particular time using contextual suggestions.
Hopefully, the Nokia N1 will soon be made available in other markets, as well.
