Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Developers Found It Hard to Maintain 60FPS On Xbox One
It looks like Xbox One not only finds it hard to maintain 60FPS on new titles, but older games with enhanced visuals also cause an issue for Microsoft’s latest gaming machine.
Don’t think of me as an Xbox fanboy, god knows PS4 has the same problems as most games don’t run on 60FPS.
Anyways, let’s talk Gears of War.
Microsoft recently announced Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, which brings the original title with enhanced visuals onto Xbox One. The title will support full HD resolution with 60FPS.
However, developers say that the biggest challenge for them was maintaining 60 frames on Xbox One, while developing Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
When asked about the development of the game, Lead Designer of the project stated:
It was fine but just like any other game project there are ups and downs. Technically speaking, the biggest challenge was maintaining 60 frames per second. Maintaining all the visual effects and lighting effects [at 60fps], I mean it looks beautiful when running at 60 fps.
That’s not really a surprise as current-gen consoles have very few games that are able to hit 60 frames. Hopefully, as we move further into this console cycle, developers will get more familiar with the hardware, and we’ll see better tools of development that’ll help push games to 60 frames.
Microsoft is also planning to release Gears 4 in Fall 2016, that will feature 60FPS.
