Nokia Plans to Launch Its Own VR Device
News is that Nokia Corp. is planning to launch its own Virtual Reality device in the future.
Due to an agreement that Nokia made with Microsoft, the company cannot develop its own mobile devices despite developing thousands of portable consumer electronics gadgets. The Finnish company that was once the biggest name in the mobile manufacturing market is finally finding its way back and plans on introduces its own VR device line.
Other facts about the release of the device remain unknown for now, the only news that is out there is that Nokia Technologies will be developing the VR device. According to a report, Re/Code suggests that this time around the release could actually be a device and not just technologies.
Product represents the most significant consumer hardware launch from Nokia since it sold its mobile phone business to Microsoft in 2014.
The report also claims that the VR device will be first launched at the VIP event in Los Angeles, California which is due next week. The fact that whether the product will be launched for public or just game developers and industry insiders hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Nokia hasn’t really manufactured anything in a long time now, the last thing that had Nokia on it was the N1 tablet and it was sold by Foxconn Electronics in China. Ever since nothing has hit the market. Let’s see if the VR device pulls through with the company’s name or with some outsource.
If Nokia introduces the VR devices then it is going to face a lot of completion from companies that are already existing in the market and have been working in area for some time now. Nokia’s main competitors will include HTC, Microsoft, Sony and Oculus VR.
