Skylake i7-6700K vs i7-4790K Performance Benchmarks Leaked
Intel’s Skylake CPU has been the talk of the town lately and plenty of news and information regarding this beast of a CPU, is leaked online.
The newest edition to the leak library, are performance benchmark results for Skylake i7 6700K. The performance of this chip was tested using an MSI Z170A Pro Gaming board against i7-4790K.
The board supports features like Turbo M.2, Lan Protect, Game Boost, LGA 1151 and DDR4. The performance is tested using stock clocks, so the news you’ve been hearing of it pushing clocks to 5.2GHz and later 6.5GHz, will not be applicable here.
In most tasks, the i7 6700K is ahead of 4790K with an overall performance difference of merely 3%. If we take clocks speeds into consideration, that gives an 8% IPC boost.
When using a dGPU, Skylake does well with a performance difference of 8%, taking IPC boost to 11%. Although Skylake does well on WinRAR with multi-threading, but somewhat lacks with single-thread. We also saw mixed results when it comes to 3DMark Firestrike Ultra, however, this could possibly be due to driver issues.
Keep in mind that these are unofficial, unconfirmed benchmarks, meaning that final product may differ in performance.
Skylake is still without a release date and a price tag, but we’ll know more about that soon enough.
