Intel Skylake-S Desktop CPUs Available for Pre-Order in U.S.
The Intel Skylake-S CPUs which are due to launch in August have been put up for pre-orders by an online retailer only in the U.S. The unlocked processors are rated at 95W TDP.
The unlocked versions of Core i7-6700K and the Core i5-6600K have been listed by PC Connection. The online stockers are asking US $401 and US $279 for Core i7-6700K and the Core i5-6600K respectively. Once the products are officially available, we believe that the prices will drop.
The rest of the lineup was also spotted at the same website and the list includes of Core i5-6400, i5-6500, i5-6600 and the Core i7-6700. Since the online retailer is trying to achieve a premium score by offering pre-orders of the products, this explains the reason for high prices.
The prices introduced by the retailer are higher than what Intel usually asks for. The SLK-S for example is 15-20 percent higher than the previous commercial desktop lineups. Core i7-6700 supports Hyper Threading while both chips will have a Quad core processor.
As reported earlier, the company intends to release the lineup in two breaks thus defining the importance of each core. It is expected that the Intel will launch multiplier unlocked and enthusiast oriented Core i5-6600K and Core i7-6700K somewhere in the beginning of August.
Although it isn’t confirmed but the company plans on launch Core i7 and i5 (unlocked) at the Gamescom 2015 show. While it is possible that we see the rest of the lineup for Intel Skylake-S launching in late August or early September.
