Report: Intel Won’t Bundle Stock Cooler with Skylake-K Unlocked CPUs
According to a new report from a Chinese website, Intel won’t bundle a stock cooler with its new high-end desktop Skylake-K CPUs. The website shared a new image which allegedly shows Intel’s cooling strategy for the new processors.
Image you see below shows Intel doesn’t plan on shipping a standard cooling solution, instead is recommending 3rd party solutions. For the time being it isn’t clear if Intel plans to ship one of these coolers along with the CPU.
Both of these coolers support a TDP of 130W, while the Skyline will release with a 90W TDP. Intel’s move is great and shows their understanding of the market they intent to target with Skylake-K.
Intel might not be shipping a cooling solution with Skylake but it wouldn’t surprising to see them releasing a bundle with a packed-in third party cooler.
It makes perfect sense as most people don’t really use the stock cooler with a high-end CPU anyway, and prefer a more powerful third party solution.
Intel is yet to confirm or deny anything related to a cooler packed in with Skylake-K, but it shouldn’t be long before the company shares more about it.
Do you think Intel is making the right move by not shipping a stock cooler? Let us know in the comments.
