London Councillor Wants To Ban FIFA Games In Light Of FBI Corruption Allegations
One of the most bizarre and ridiculous things happened in London where Camden councillor Awale Olad has called to a ban FIFA games, the popular soccer video game franchise from EA Sports.
Unless you have been living under a rock since the past few weeks, you may have come across reports of corruption within FIFA, which resulted in its president Sepp Blatter to step down.
From what I understand, Olad isn’t looking for all out ban of the game, he just wants to stop people from playing it in pubs and youth clubs, which is still pretty bizarre.
As a local authority we should take a strong stand against corrupt individuals and organisations and we should start off by hurting their business by discouraging people from buying their popular video games and put a stop to FIFA video game tournaments popping up across the borough.
We admire his motives but the thing is that FIFA isn’t making any money from such tournaments, so banning FIFA isn’t hurting anybody but the fans.
Olad is looking to raise the issue in front of a full council meeting on Monday, June 22.
FIFA is a licensed product with licensed players featured in it. However, the game is built separately from football’s governing body.
It will be interesting to see where all this goes. We’ll have more for you as soon as news is shared with us. Till then, feel free to share your opinion in the comments.
