Amazon And Marvel Deal Brings 12,000 Comics To Kindle
According to the latest news to come out of the Seattle-based retail giant Amazon, it has gone into a deal with Marvel. The deal will allow Kindle users to download single issues of popular comics on their devices, directly via Amazon.
From Spider-Man to Star Wars, you name it and it’s there. In total, we have 12,000 comics available on the store. Moreover, users will not have to use the Comixology app necessarily.
On the other hand, Marvel is also running its own Marvel Unlimited service, that offers your favorite comics for $9.99 a month.
However, the problem was that the issues available via Marvel Unlimited were six or more months old. But fans will be happy to know that issues on Kindle Store are going to be live as soon as they are available on the store shelves and Comixology.
Peter Phillips, EVP of Interactive and Digital Distribution at Marvel Entertainment, said:
After Amazon’s acquisition of comixology in April of 2014, we collectively saw a great opportunity to expand our relationship and create more ways for fans to access Marvel’s vast library of characters as well as leverage comixology’s technology, together with Amazon’s incredible consumer focus and reach.
The new deal is very beneficial for Marvel as the company now has a chance to reach more fans around the globe. Marvel said it wants to create a whole new generation of comic book fans.
