Hound on Android: How to Launch the App Without an Activation Code
SoundHound recently announced its amazing new virtual assistant application, called Hound. The app has created quite a buzz in the tech sector, especially after a demo video showing how it puts Siri and Google Now to shame.
Currently, the Hound app for Android is in its beta and you only gain access to the app once you receive your activation code–which can take a few days. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to get Hound activated on your Android phone right after you install the app.
- Make sure your Android device is rooted
- Hound Beta from Google Play
- ES File Explorer File Manager from Google Play
- HoundPreferences.xml file (.zip) by a recognised XDA developer djh816
Get Hound Activated on Android Right Away
Open the Hound app, then force-close it through the app information page or the multitasking menu once you see the welcome/activation page.
Head over to the Downloads folder in your file explorer and look for the “HoundPreferences.xml” file. Tap and hold the .zip file.
Navigate to More -> Extract to -> Current path -> OK
Now, tap and hold the newly extracted file and select “Copy.”
After the file is copied, navigate to Device -> data -> data -> com.hound.android.app -> shared_prefs and paste the copy filed.
When prompted, select “Overwrite,” then exit the file explorer.
That’s it. Now, open the Hound app and it will skip the Activation step, launching directly into the actual app. Enjoy!
