Angry Birds LEGO Building Blocks Announced For Spring 2016
The creator of Angry Birds, Rovio, has revealed an interesting piece of news. The company has signed a deal with Danish toymaker Lego. Meaning two of our favorite pass times are coming together, but how?
Here’s how, both of these companies are joining forces to bring us Angry Birds inspired Lego building blocks. The building blocks are an attempt to make the licensing business stand up on its feet.
It has been a harsh few quarters for Angry Birds and Rovio, as the company’s earnings fell by 73%. This was due to a drop in licensing for Angry Birds clothing, sweets and toys.
Release date for these Lego blocks wasn’t specified but it was mentioned that it will coincide with Angry Birds movie, that is planned for a Spring 2016 release.
Angry Birds’ growth has been dented and Rovio needs to take immediate steps to insure its survival. Angry Birds was at one time among the top selling mobile games and still is at some capacity. However, Rovio failed to produce new hit games which resulted in loss of appeal among fans.
Rovio is hoping to revive its brand with the upcoming movie releases, which may also help boost sales of related merchandise.
Only time will tell if Rovio successfully captures its market share back or not. For all things Angry Birds, stay-tuned!
