Nvidia GTX 980 Ti SLI Delivers Nearly Double The Performance at 4K
The researchers at Maximum PC have come up with a new rather shocking discovery. According to the newest results that came forward at the Maximum PC lab, two GTX 980 Ti cards (when put together) double the performance speed as compared to a single one inserted.
I know you all must be startled right now, but the labs gotta do what they need. Apparently, these tests are very, very important. Satisfying the 4K gods is difficult though, Nvidia is pressing the GTX 980 Ti for 4K gaming. Although the mega 60 frames per second performance is the ultimate goal.
Nvidia trying to push the Ti in the 4K gaming actually makes sense, it has a huge VRAM i.e. 6GB which we believe is more than enough to support any game currently. The framerates work differently though, the all mighty GTX 980 Ti (yes not even two together) can run games without dropping to 30 fps.
So if you want to play games like Witcher 3 or GTA 5, it won’t be happening with the fps drpooing down to 30. Sure tweaking a few settings might just help or you can insert another card worth $650 in hopes of achieving the required framerates.
The pair of GTX 980 Tis put together produced the following results. A single GTX 980 Ti increased nearly 20 to 30% scaling at 1080p, depending on games. The SLI performance test at Maximum PC at 4K was much better.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor produced 89% higher faramerates whereas the Tomb Raider performed even better with 95% increase in the framerates.
Well we hope these number keep on increasing along with the graphics outcome.
