Microdia Introduces 512 GB MicroSD Care Card
MicroSD cards are crazily small and easy to lose, who is with me on this? Well with that ridiculously small piece of plastic comes a huge amount of memory storage. Reportedly, Microdia has crammed 512 GB on a microSD card.
SanDisk announced a 200 GB microSD card back in March at the Mobile World Congress, although the newly announced microSD card by Microdia can store twice as much. The SDXC format allows the card to have extra capacity, it can store up to 2 TB cards although we only have the 512 GB space for now.
However with the increased storage comes a fat price tag. The Xtra Elite Microdia 512 GB microSD card will cost nearly $1,000 U.S. Dollar ($1,285 Australia or £655). Apparently the card will be available for purchase in July however the retail price may vary.
CNET discovered the new innovation at the Computex in Taipei. This is not the first time that Microdia has introduced something back in 2008 they introduced the 64 GB Compact Flash card. Xtra Elite uses the 4.0 version of Secure Digital standard which allows the card additional row of pins. It also features the UHS (Ultra High Speed) with a 300 MBps data transfer rate.
The company has made this card especially for professional photographers who would die to get that extra storage and speed in just one card. If you look at its price it is even more expensive than a Galaxy S6 which is the smartphone of the year and does not even have a memory card slot. If you really want it and then you better not lose it.
