MediaTek Announces Helio P10 Octa-Core, 21 MP Camera and Improved Battery Life
MediaTek does not want smartphones users to feel deprived when they cannot afford to buy 10 core processors, only after half a month after the company announced deca-core processor in Helio X20 it announces today Helio P10 that has a 28nm SoC.
X20 belonging to the extreme performance family had 10 processors in total out of which two were Cortex-A72 with maximum performing capabilities. On the other hand, Helio P10 has 8 processors with 64 bit Cortex-A53 and clock speed of 2GHz.
Given that one thing is for sure, it is not a powerhouse chip as it lacks both Cortec-A57 and Cortex-A72. However, it is good news for your mobile’s battery as Cortex-A57 slows the speed performance, has heating issues and eats your battery like a seven-year-old hungry fat kid.
Besides that the P10 has decent graphics with dual-core 64-bit Mali-T860 700 MHz. It also supports LTE Cat 6 speed (300 Mbps down / 50 Mbps up) with 2×20 carrier aggregation. It has the RWWB optical sensors which are supported with TrueBright ISP engine.
The low lithographic processor will reduce the cost price which will attract many Chinese brands to collaborate with MediaTek. Other than the processors, P10 will also support Camera with 21 megapixel capturing resolution.
HiFi audio performance is another feature supported by the P10 with 110dB SNR and -95dB THD rate. This addition will be beneficial for device makers, as they would not have to add the audio chip. The MiraVision 2.0 will allow users to record 60 fps videos on HD.
It also has an ‘Ultra Dimming’ mode, for all late night users. The BluLight Defender will be the last feature that enables users to protect their eyes and reduce eye fatigue. The P10 is expected to release in the third quarter of this year, before the launch of X20 in any case.
