Snapchat: Holding Your Finger On The Screen To Watch Videos May Soon Be History
In all honesty, I was never really able to wrap my head around the whole Snapchat concept. I mean I have seen some pretty weird apps and still was able to get why they are popular, but Snapchat is a whole different beast.
Anyways, may be I’m getting too old for this.
I haven’t used Snapchat much but whatever time I did spend using it, I found one thing very annoying. The app requires you to keep your finger on the screen in order to play a video. For god sake why? Is a play button too mainstream?
Many of us were hoping someday the developers will come to their senses and scrap this annoyance, will be happy to know that day may soon come folks.
At Re/code’s Code Conference, it was announced by Evan Spiegel that Snapchat is working on a way to watch videos, in which they will play straight away.
It isn’t yet clear if users will have to tap on a “play” button or the video will just start as soon as shared. If you ask me, having a “play” button is the best way to go.
Apparently, the reason behind having to hold the screen is, engagement. Otherwise, Snapchat won’t know if users are watching the video.
I find that hard to believe that they have no way of knowing that, but still..
More details about this new way to watch videos will be shared in the near future, so stay-tuned for more update.
