Motorola Droid Turbo: Android 5.1 Lollipop Rolling Out in Mid-June
Motorola announces Android update for Verizon-exclusive Droid Turbo. Supposedly, Android 5.1 Lollipop update will start flowing in from mid-June.
Motorola is well reputed for not updating Androids in their phones timely. Droid Turbo has not yet received any Android update although Android 5.0 Lollipop is available since the last six months on devices.
The smartphone was launched back in October and users have been waiting for the update ever since. Droid Turbo runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. However news is, Motorola Droid Turbo will be receiving update for 5.1 Android, skipping the 5.0 version altogether.
The news can be trusted since Jose Arturo, Verizon employee, said on Google+ that the reason behind such a long delay is the VoLTE and HD voice functionality nationwide. The company does not want the update to affect call quality and phone’s performance. Secondly, the company has also been a little low on budget compared to Apple and Samsung.
Motorola is small potatoes on budget compared to Samsung and Apple. Delays are usually due to funding for test verifications on new device software.
Arturo also posted a picture of his mobile phone already running Android 5.1, which means that he is currently using the test version. Following May 28, Droid Turbo will be available in three colors namely Ballistic Nylon, Red MGF and Black MGF.
Motorola Droid Turbo can be bought for $499 off contrast or $99 on contrast from Verizon Wireless. Let’s all hope that this news turns out true, otherwise users might get upset. Are you a Motorola Droid Turbo user? Let us know how you feel about the update coming to your phones in just three month.
