BlackBerry Acquisition: Microsoft, Huawei and Others Involved Reportedly
A new report claims that major companies such as Microsoft, Xiaomi, Lenovo and Huawei are eying BlackBerry for acquisition.
The long time big player BlackBerry is facing difficult times since quite a while now, especially after the introduction of smartphones. The company saw a fling of profit in the fourth quarter of fiscal for the year 2014. Ever since it is being targeted for acquisition.
According to a report by DigiTimes, the above mentioned companies are potential investors. It also reports that Microsoft has hired Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank’s investment bankers to evaluate the possible chances of BB producing profits in the future.
This is not the first time that Microsoft’s name has been used in the acquisition area. It gained Nokia along with its huge patent portfolio for $7.17 billion in April last year. Lenovo is also a possible candidate since it acquired Motorola from Google for 2.91 billion US dollar.
Actual details as to why these companies would like to acquire BB remain unknown for now. Although we can assume that it could be for two reasons, first Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and second wide range of mobile solutions. BlackBerry could provide IoV and IoT since mobile phones are becoming inundated and the new emerging market demands these.
Furthermore, the company’s security and mobile solutions for enterprises can easily improve Microsoft Windows 10 phones and computers. Lenovo, Huawei and Xiaomi can also use BlackBerry’s security to beef up theirs as the Androids are an easy target for Malwares.
Otherwise if BlackBerry is acquired by one of these companies, which one do you think should go for it and why.
