iOS 9 to Bring New ‘Home’ app That Will Let You Control Your House With iPhone
I remember seeing characters in movies control their house and other possessions with their smartphone. It looked like something only possible in science fiction but it has been possible for a while now. I guess I just have a hard time wrapping my head around the idea.
Anyways, Apple is planning to release an app within iOS 9 called “Home.” The app is Apple’s vision for letting users control different aspects of their home with an iPhone. For example, users can control curtains and temperature, door locks and plenty of other things with just a tap on their phones.
Used in conjunction with HomeKit, with new app you can control and manipulate several third party products around your house, like Wi-Fi and even their garage doors. Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference is the event that is expected to fully unveil this app.
According to a source close to Apple with knowledge of their plans, Apple’s Home app for iPhone will let users wirelessly pair with HomeKit devices in order to give them control over their appliances. Apple TV will be used as a hub to bring together all devices.
It’s Apple all around folks!
Third party developers will be able to create device compatible with HomeKit and Home iPhone. The source is claiming that Home app is already being used in iOS 9 builds distributed internally at Apple.
The idea seems really interesting but we have to consider the possibility that this app may never go public. Instead, HomeKit could possibly be controlled by voice commands etc.
We’ll know how things go in the near future.
